Location
In the Southern Philippines, Dipolog City sits on the Western edge of Mindanao Island, at the Northwestern rim of the Zamboanga Peninsula. Bounded in the North by Dapitan City, in the East by Municipality of Polanco, on the South by the Municipality of Katipunan and the West by the Sulu Sea.

Climate
Dipolog City’s climate is mild and moderate where rainfall is more or less evenly distributed throughout the year. The cool and fresh air from the highlands mixed with the air from the Sulu Sea creates an invigorating atmosphere for its people. Dry season begins from February to April and wet season starts from June to January, while, the hottest month is April. The prevailing wind is the Northeast Wind with a velocity of 2 degrees and 7% exposure to typhoon.

Topography
Dipolog consist mostly of rolling terrain with lowlands along its western coast facing the Sulu Sea. It has a number of waterways, the main being the Dipolog River, which drains into Sulu Sea . Other rivers, small creeks and streams also traverse the area; more common of these are the Diwan, Layawan, Katipunan Rivers, Miputak, Gusawan, Olingan Creeks. The city has an elevation of 2.5 meters above the sea level.

Language/Dialect Spoken
A wide array of dialects are spoken in the city but the Cebuano language is predominantly spoken by about 97.00% of the population.

Religion
99.33% of the population in the city are Christians. Of the Christian sects, Roman Catholic has the highest number of the members accounting to 93.58% of its entire Christian population.

Getting There
Dipolog City is accessible via land, air and water routes. Philippine Airlines (PAL) has six flights a week from Manila. By sea, inter-island vessels regularly ply routes to Dipolog from Cebu, Dumaguete, Zamboanga, Iligan, Cagayan de Oro and Manila. By land, the concrete national highways link Dipolog to the cities of Ozamis, Iligan, Cagayan de Oro and Davao to the north and the cities of Pagadian and Zamboanga to the south.
