02 September 2003 Gordon to grace Gensan City 5th Tuna Festival
Tourism Secretary Richard Gordon is set to grace next week's celbration of the 5th Tuna Festival in General Santos City with this years theme "WOW GenSan: Discover Wealth of Water" which also coincides with the city' 35th Charter Anniversary celebration.
This years festival theme according to Gordon, underscores what the people of Gensan have to be proud of, by showcasing the beauty and bounty of their oceans like: SWIM which refers to breathtaking dive sites, SAND for the prestine beaches and the SASHIMI which stands for their world renown tuna products.
In Gensan, The tourism Chief will meet, in separate venues, the city's local government officials, non-government organizations as well as tourism associations to bring impart a strong message that Gensan is truly safe for tourists and investors.
He will likewise launch the "Bayan Ko, Sagot Ko," DOT's culture of tourism program.. Other tourism-related matters like the ironing out of their plan to put up a fisherman's wharf along Gensan Fish Port Complex will likewise be discussed.
Gordon will also join the much celebrated crowd-drawer the Tuna Revolution Float Parade Competition in the afternoon of Sept.5, where at least nine giant floats adorned with tuna products will be paraded along city's main streets.
