Department of Tourism – DFA seminar prepares tourism stakeholders to provide world-class service

With the advent of tourism industry growth in Region 8 because of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s super region concept of development, the Department of Tourism and the Department of Foreign Affairs are jointly conducting a seminar-workshop on protocol and social graces on October 11-12 at the SMED Center in Tacloban City.

Under President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s super region concept of development, the Region belongs to Central Philippines which is envisioned to become the Tourism Center of the country. (more…)

The best is yet to come for Philippine Tourism

Tacloban City  — For the first time, the Philippines would have more than three million tourists in 2007, but the best for Philippine Tourism is yet to come.

This is the pronouncement of Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano during the Philippine Travel Exchange in Cebu City last week.

Secretary Durano revealed that some $2 billion worth of tourism projects are being developed nationwide to meet the unprecedented demand for hotel rooms. (more…)

Tourism will produce 650 jobs in Eastern Samar

caliloan samar surfing spotClose to a thousand jobs will cater to the long-awaited dream of many Eastern Samarenos to find employment, in time the hotel business begins in Calicoan Island of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, two years from now.

This was learned from Timothy “Tim” Brumlik, Director of Calicoan Integrated Resort Development Corporation (CIRDC) in an interview with media during the launching yesterday of the eight-storey and 250-room Comdominium Hotel which is soon to be built in this part of the region.

Brumlik, a North American, flew in to the white beach resort of Guiuan with other members of their corporation and showed to the media the blue print of their hotel which has an estimated cost of $150-160M. He added that it will sit in an 11-hectare land area with a 450-meter beach front. (more…)
