Philippines Hosts 2007 International Medical Travel Conference

The country’s top medical and wellness facilities and resort destinations take center stage as the Department of Tourism (DOT) announced that it is organizing the 2nd International Medical Conference (IMTC 2007). The event will be held on November 19-23 at the Hotel Intercontinental Manila in Makati City.

According to Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano, “I am calling on local stakeholders in the medical tourism industry, such as hospitals, wellness resorts, and healthcare financing services, tour operators and transportation companies to participate in this event and take advantage of the opportunity to meet and network with their counterparts around the world.”

The four-day event aims to develop medical value travel and to be the catalyst for industry alliances among medical establishments, health benefits companies, insurance travel partners, government agencies and other related enterprises. IMTC 2007 is expected to draw in more than 250 trade participants from over 23 countries. (more…)

Davao Oriental hosts 1st “Surf n’ Skimboarding Safari”

Davao City — In its effort to promote the province of Davao Oriental as the Surfing Sensation of Mindanao, the Department of Tourism XI in cooperation with MPN Events Unlimited will be holding the 1st SURF n’ SkimBoarding Safari on September 14-16, 2007 at Dahican Beach, Mati City, Davao Oriental.

The activity hopes to market the beautiful beaches and captivating coastlines of Davao Oriental as well as advocate environmental awareness. During the said event will be the launching of DOT’s “Baybay nato ni Bay” – a Coastal Management Campaign. (more…)

The best is yet to come for Philippine Tourism

Tacloban City  — For the first time, the Philippines would have more than three million tourists in 2007, but the best for Philippine Tourism is yet to come.

This is the pronouncement of Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano during the Philippine Travel Exchange in Cebu City last week.

Secretary Durano revealed that some $2 billion worth of tourism projects are being developed nationwide to meet the unprecedented demand for hotel rooms. (more…)
