Are you ready for this? Ten TV and sports personalities will join in the upcoming “Ready, Set, RORO!” DBP Interisland Race – Year 3, an action-packed, 6-day exhilirating outdoor adventure race which will pass through eight interesting destinations in Visayas and Luzon via the Central Nautical Highway from November 7-12, 2008.
This unique adventure race will test the brain, brawn, and mettle of 10 teams as they go on a treasure hunt for products of national pride while highlighting the benefits of the Road Roll-On, Roll-Off (RORO) Terminal System on domestic trade and tourism.
Teen star Ryza Cenon joins young entrepreneurs Will Nocom and Super Perez from Manila; Arron Villaflor teams up with siblings Rayn and Tina Yu from Manila; and Charee Pineda groups with dating students Chad Venades and Roxy Barrios from Manila. The Department of Tourism (DOT) – National Capital Region (NCR) announced recently the registration is going on for this year’s “24-Hrs. of Endurance Mountain Bike Race”! to be held on Aug. 23-24, 2008 at NBP Land Reserve, Muntinlupa City.
The event, now on its third year is dubbed as 24-hrs. Endurance Mountain Bike Race’! and is considered the first most gruelling and longest mountain bike races not only in the country but also Asia.
DOT-NCR Director Reynato L. Chua is inviting mountain biking enthusiasts to participate in the event. He stated . . . “two birds in one shot! It is high time for sporting events enthusiasts to learn more about our history while in the race course and discover one of the adventure and eco-tourism destinations in Metro Manila, now found in Muntinlupa City.” (more…)
Owners, school operators and tourism industry players of Mindanao together with the government officials of the education sector will converge in Davao City next month in time for the 3rd Mindanao Travel and Tour Expo (MTTE 2008) to reconcile needs of both camps for the benefit of the students who will later seek employment.
Joji Ilagan Bian, chair of the Mindanao Technical Vocational Education and Training Association and president of the Joji Ilagan Career Centre Foundation, Inc. said at the Club 888 Forum of The Marco Polo Hotel that the MTTE offers opportunities to over 300 school operators in the island find out the kind of skills tourism industry players would need.
She said these educational institutions are offering tourism and hospitality courses and it is high time that they should know what are the appropriate qualities of graduates the industry are looking from the jobseekers by interacting face-to-face with the industry players.
The academe must now align their educational system to the requirement of the industry, she said.

The Honourable Helena Guergis, Secretary of State (Foreign Affairs and International Trade) (Sport), today announced the successful conclusion of a new air transport agreement with the Philippines to increase trade and tourism. She made the announcement on behalf of the Honourable David Emerson, Minister of International Trade and Minister responsible for the Pacific Gateway and Vancouver-Whistler Olympics, and the Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities.
Secretary of State Guergis met with Senior Undersecretary Thomas Aquino of the Department of Trade and Industry, Government of the Philippines, on the margins of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT) meeting in Arequipa, Peru, to make the announcement.
