Boracay Island can be a perfect holiday spot for one and all. Tourists across the globe can get to explore thumping avenues while they are at Boracay. In many ways, Boracay Island has persevered its wilderness and natural ways.

‘Sirok ti Mangga’ Resort in Natividad Pangasinan

A new haven of tourists in the foothills of the Caraballo Mountains, called the “Sirok ti Mangga” Resort located in Sitio Pila, Barangay Bachelor East here, is now drawing tourists wanting to escape from the punishing heat of the sun in their homes this summer.

Owned by the municipal government headed by Mayor Rodrigo Rafael, the tourist spot is a 10-hectare mango plantation, hence the name “Sirok ti Manga” (under the mango tree).

The place was developed by the municipal government as a tourist spot since the previous administration, with the help of partner investors under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) concept. (more…)

Pinoy Celebrities sprint across the Philippines in ”Ready, Set, RORO” Interisland Race

Ten TV and sports personalities will join in the upcoming “Ready, Set, RORO!” DBP Interisland Race – Year 3, an action-packed, 6-day exhilirating outdoor adventure race which will pass through eight interesting destinations in Visayas and Luzon via the Central Nautical Highway from November 7-12, 2008.

This unique adventure race will test the brain, brawn, and mettle of 10 teams as they go on a treasure hunt for products of national pride while highlighting the benefits of the Road Roll-On, Roll-Off (RORO) Terminal System on domestic trade and tourism.

Teen star Ryza Cenon joins young entrepreneurs Will Nocom and Super Perez from Manila; Arron Villaflor teams up with siblings Rayn and Tina Yu from Manila; and Charee Pineda groups with dating students Chad Venades and Roxy Barrios from Manila. It’s our second day in Davao and since we hired a Toyota Van, we decided to visit the Philippine Eagle Center in Malagos Davao City. It has been more than five years since I last visited this park and I saw a lot of improvements.

The trees have grown and the place looks like a well maintained man made forest with a beautiful landscape. They constructed a film center where Philippine Eagle documentaries can be viewed, its intention is to build awareness for the conservation of “Haring Ibon” (Philippine Eagle). Read More >>

Registration Is On For This Year’s “24-Hrs. Of Endurance Mountain Bike Race”!

The Department of Tourism (DOT) – National Capital Region (NCR) announced recently the registration is going on for this year’s “24-Hrs. of Endurance Mountain Bike Race”! to be held on Aug. 23-24, 2008 at NBP Land Reserve, Muntinlupa City.

The event, now on its third year is dubbed as 24-hrs. Endurance Mountain Bike Race’! and is considered the first most gruelling and longest mountain bike races not only in the country but also Asia.

DOT-NCR Director Reynato L. Chua is inviting mountain biking enthusiasts to participate in the event. He stated . . . “two birds in one shot! It is high time for sporting events enthusiasts to learn more about our history while in the race course and discover one of the adventure and eco-tourism destinations in Metro Manila, now found in Muntinlupa City.” (more…)

Department of Tourism Steps Up Ecotourism in the Philippines

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has stepped up its thrust to highlight ecotourism around the country through Magandang Pilipinas.

The said project brings together the DOT, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, ABS-CBN Foundation’s Bantay Kalikasan and US-based nonprofit organization Conservation International to identify, develop and promote various ecotourism sites around the country.

According to Tourism Secretary Ace Durano, “Our vision is for the Philippines to be recognized as a leading destination for ecotourism. The islands are already blessed with breathtaking natural beauty on land and underwater. The next step for us is to support our local communities and tourism establishments and stakeholders in conserving and properly utilizing this wealth.”

Under the Memorandum of Agreement, Magandang Pilipinas engages the participating agencies to manage and promote key ecotourism sites in the Philippines. (more…)
