Medical Tourism in the Philippines Poised for Growth with Launch of International Accreditation Program

A globally-recognized accreditation program has been launched in the Philippines to improve the quality of care among local healthcare providers and develop the country’s medical tourism products and offerings.

Under the aegis of its exclusive Philippine representative HealthCORE, NABH International aims to improve the conditions, systems, processes and skills of healthcare facilities and professionals in the country through internationally recognized and accredited standards.

“Accreditation is a practical solution to one of the main issues in medical tourism, which is quality and safety assurance. We can not underestimate its importance, since international accreditation allows our healthcare provider to inform patients that it has undergone external assessment which has been benchmarked globally.

It builds credibility and confidence, which generates recognition among foreign patients, thereby promoting medical tourism,” said Dr. Sanjiv Malik, Board Member of NABH and Executive Director of DM Healthcare Group in UAE, who was also responsible for the marketing strategies of Taiwan Task Force for Medical Travel.

Developed and successfully implemented in India, NABH has been accredited by the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) under its International Accreditation Program in 2008–one of the few accrediting organizations in the world to achieve this recognition. ISQua is an international body which grants approval to healthcare accreditation programs as a seal of excellence. (more…)

How to choose Holiday Villas for your next vacation

Choosing to stay in a holiday villa instead of a hotel or house is a great way to make sure that your next vacation is memorable, wonderful, and luxurious. When I travel, I usually like to stay in cheap, out of the way places, but from time to time, I really love the feeling of being in the lap of luxury.

One thing to keep in mind is that there are both legal and illegal rental agencies. Choosing a legal rental agent is a wise choice because when you are spending the little bit of extra to enjoy yourself, nothing can ruin it more than the police showing up to tell you that you are trespassing and then realizing that the ‘rental agent’ was actually a thief! It really happens.

Look carefully at website credentials and if you are meeting them in person, ask to pay a visit to the rental office so that you can enjoy a hassle free experience. Look for the endorsements of local associations as these are the best way to ascertain that you are dealing with a reputable agent or agency.

One big advantage is that a reputable agent will more likely have a wider range of villas for you to choose from. Say you are looking for villas in Cyprus, They will be familiar with the villa and everything it includes or doesn’t include. (more…)

Dapitan City eyes Aliguay and Selinog islands as eco-tourism havens

Government and private stakeholders are upbeat in developing this city’s two islands as potential eco-tourism havens.

The city government is gearing up to provide domestic and foreign tourists with places where they could enjoy nature while coming to this city during festivals like the “Kinabayo Festival,” with centerpiece events from July 16 and culminating in July 25 with the annual feast of St. James The Greater, Dapitan City’s patron saint.

The city and Zamboanga del Norte provincial governments, in partnership with the management of Dakak Park and Beach Resort, were focusing the development efforts on Aliguay and Selinog Islands, which are made up of 66 hectares and 72 hectares respectively.

Councilor Apple Marie Agolong, chairperson of the City Council’s Committee on Tourism, said that Aliguay and Selinog Islands were island villages located roughly 10 to 14 kilometers, respectively, from Tag-ulo Point. (more…)

How to get a hotel and restaurant management degree online

I’ve been wanting to be able to do more in the food and travel industries but somehow my once powerful Bachelors Degree doesn’t seem to have the same clout it once carried. Every time I meet new people, I’m asked if I have a hotel and restaurant management degree.

I’m an old dog with a degree in Accountancy and Law from back in the 1990′s and back then Im still not decided what to take so I took a business related degree, so the answer is usually no to both my inquiries and theirs about my degree.

Im now planning to get a hotel and restaurant management degree online. It turns out there aren’t any shortage of programs available. The truth is that both tourism and hospitality are growing more important all the time as customers demand world-class service. In fact, that demands the correct knowledge to meet the needs and expectations of guests. So, how did I do it?

First I looked at whether I had the time and energy to pursue a traditional degree. The answer was no. I needed something flexible for my schedule and I didn’t want to have to attend classes on a campus somewhere every day. Im currently thinking of enrolling in one of the most popular local hospitality management schools, but there are plenty of other options available if you search the web. (more…)
