15 out-of-town contingents to join Sinulog Festival 2011 parade

Fifteen provinces and cities outside Cebu will join some 30 local contingents in next month’s Sinulog grand parade, which will also feature 500 performers for the grand finale.

The Sinulog 2011 edition will pay tribute to the Chinese community and celebrate Chinese influence in the local culture and economy.

Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) executive director Ricky Ballesteros said although they cannott match the production numbers during the opening of the Beijing Olympics, they will try to do something similar to give the parade an authentic Chinese feel.

Aside from the performances, the stage and street décor for the grand parade will also have a touch of Chinese, including the use of huge drums and other Chinese musical instruments.

The contingents will still perform the traditional “two steps forward, one step backward” Sinulog dance, but organizers expect the music and props to feature Chinese influences. (more…)

My Little Island Experience

By Ariel Allera

Getting to Camotes one early morning gave me and my colleagues a pain in the butt (literally!), for we were helplessly squatting on a pumpboat’s floor en route to the mystical island. But as soon as our arrival was welcomed by our hotel’s staff and crew all the agony from the travel had vanished in a jiffy.

For once, it’s hard to believe that we were going to stay for the weekend in the posh and cozy Mediterranean inspired My Little Island Hotel nestled on a Poro hilltop, which provides a panoramic view of the land below and the bay off the greeneries.

A nature lover like me wouldn’t have second thoughts about taking advantage of the swimming pool’s perfect location, where one could enjoy swimming or simply splashing down—whilst feasting one’s eyes on the green foliage and the quiet, crystal clear waters of Camotes sea in the background.

I marvelled at the picturesque beauty of it all, tearfully thanking the Lord up above for giving me that opportunity to be in My Little Island. Being there is like seeing all of the islands at once because that part which the hotel looks over is enough epitome of all that is pure and mystic—which is Camotes. But, of course, one has to touch it—not to mention explore—if one wants to maximize the time to be in this Eden. (more…)

How to Plan your Relocation in the Philippines

Are you currently living in the United States and your are planning to relocate in the Philippines? If you are planning to live abroad for good then you need to be able to entrust your international relocation to a responsible and trustworthy international moving company that can provide you with cutting edge moving and relocation services.

Say your are currently living in Houston, I would advice for you to look for local Houston movers since they are the one familiar with the local ways and means including all the important papers that you need to secure.

Do you have pets? In most cases, you will have to put your pets in quarantine for at least thirty days or more but in the Philippines, quarantine of pets are much shorter in compare to other asian countries like HongKong. One important information that I learned from Billy.com’s Dallas movers is that creating a simple financial plan is important in the relocation process. You may want to know is if your items or cargo will be subject to taxes and other fees.

Since the total cost to relocate is a huge chunk of the relocation process, you will want to take your time and request for a quote of exactly how much money you will need for before you start moving.

A quality relocation or forwarder service will always go beyond providing the heavy lifting service, its more like building relationships with current and future clients. Make sure to find reviews online before hiring or getting your local moving services, remember its your property and we know how filipinos value their things.
