DOT 8 backs local governance tourism seminar

philippine department of tourismTacloban City – The Department of Tourism (DOT) in Region 8 is strongly backing up the holding of the “Local Governance Tourism Seminar Workshop” for local chief executives and other stakeholders which will be held on July 26 to 28 at Hotel Alejandro in Tacloban City.

DOT 8 Director Karina S. Tiopes informed that DOT is closely coordinating with the Leyte Chamber of Industry and the Leyte School of Professionals which is the seminar provider together with the Asian Institute of Tourism, through its Dean Dr. Ma. Corazon Santiago, Ph.D., and with the help of other highly competent tourism executives from the National Capital Region. (more…)

Leyte chamber endorses tourism seminar for local executives, stakeholders

leyte tourist destinationTacloban City — Leyte Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Orland Uy strongly endorsed the holding of the “Local Governance Tourism Seminar Workshop” on July 26 -28, 2007 at Hotel Alejandro, Tacloban City.

Mr. Uy said that the training dubbed as “Local Governance Tourism Seminar: A Unified Approach to the Development and Management of Sustainable Community Based Tourism Projects,” was organized by LCCI Director and Business Advocacy Committee Chairman Gerry Palabyab, with the Leyte School of Professionals and Asian Institute of Tourism Dean, Maria Socorro Santiago to provide the training. Tanauan tourism and information center inaugurated

tacloban city leyteTacloban City – In order to cater to the tourism and information needs of the visitors and the local people, the Tanauan Tourism and Information Center was formally inaugurated on July 6, 2007, Mayor Roque Tiu informed. This, Mayor Tiu said is a humble contribution to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s Super Region Prooject and her thrust of making Central Philippines where Tanauan belongs, to become the Tourism Capital of the Philippines.

Strategically located at the Embarkadero Square just beside the Senior Citizens Building and infront of the Tanauan Police Station along Real Street, the Tanauan Tourism and Information Center building was funded by First District of Leyte Congresswoman Remedios L. Petilla. (more…)

Philippines conducts health, wellness and medical tourism roadshow in US

Tacloban City  — In its effort to promote the Philippines as the newest medical tourism haven in Asia, the government has sent a delegation to conduct the Philippine Health and Wellness and Medical Tourism Roadshow in the United States.

Just recently, Consul General May Jo Bernardo Aragon of the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, California hosted to a luncheon meeting, the delegation members who are in the United States to visit healthcare facilities to learn from the best practices of their counterparts and to promote the Philippines as the newest medical tourism destination in Asia.

Medical Tourism, a priority government program in the Philippine Medium-Term Development Plan, is under the Health and Wellness Sector of the Public-Private Partnership for Global Competitiveness, co-chaired by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
