Patio Pacific Boracay Hosts “Dancers for Freedom” Concert

patio pacific resort boracayIt was the one event that the island resort of Boracay had eagerly anticipated — the visit of the famous Kalilayan Folkloric Group and their “Dancers for Freedom” musical show. The venue was Patio Pacific, and host of the dance delegation from Catanauan, Quezon, and Patio Pacific resort owner, Kelly Boncan, and her hardworking marketing staff, had ensured the overall success of the three-day stint. Schoolchildren, parents and resort guests had dates reserved for watching the series of performances.

Among the special guests who came all the way from Manila was Department of Tourism Region IV Director Louella Jurilla, and she saw how the spirit of cultural exchange had successfully propelled the government’s efforts through valuable initiatives like “Dancers for Freedom”. So moved was she by the broadway quality performances that she extended an invitation to the group from Quezon to perform for the Department of Tourism. Likewise, Patio Pacific was lauded for its efforts to promote art and culture to the grassroots level by way of a trainors’ dance workshop which KFG offered for free to school musical & cultural coordinators from the island and province. tinalisayan island

There’s always about summer that excites everyone. I know that the heat is more than scourging, punitive really when you think about it. But when immaculately white beaches and fine sand come to mind, everything’s forgotten. No amount of excessively damaging tropical heat can hold me from hitting the sea and the sand, regardless of my poor ‘beach’ physique state. Sr. Police Superintendent Benigno Durana, Aklan Police Provincial Office Provincial Director disclosed this in a press conference recently with the Aklan Police Defense Press Corps. This was PD Durana’s answer to a media man’s question on the implementation of the Human Security Act (RA 9372) and its impact on the protection of Boracay Island from terroristic attacks.

Durana said the PNP employs three steps to implement protective laws – intelligence, investigation and target hardening. In the intelligence aspect, Durana said the PNP collects information to protect Boracay Island and preempt any terroristic activity from happening there. On the other hand, he said investigations involve looking at any information that will cause them to believe that there is a presence of terroristic activities already. (more…)
