Boracay Island Paradise to be declared National Park

boracay island paradiseBoracay will soon be declared a national park.

This, as President Gloria Macapagal—Arroyo is set to implement an unrepealed Martial Law Proclamation making Boracay a national park and placing its resources under the Philippine Tourism Authority (PTA)’s control and administration.

The move will be made as the Chief Executive wants to protect and preserve Boracay’s tourism value which spreads throughout Aklan, while guaranteeing sustainability of the island’s resources and livelihood.

It would be recalled that the Arroyo administration is resolved in investing in vital infrastructures which also includes means to take care of the environment as a reflection of the government’s commitment to better the Filipino people’s quality of life.

In a related development, P200 million worth double lane new Ibajay bridge will be inaugurated to replace the existing Reinforced Concrete Deck Girder (RCDG) bridge, leading to the Caticlan Jetty port that serves as a jump-off point to Boracay island. (more…)

What makes women go daring in Boracay?

The name Boracay alone conjures images of leisure and pleasure at their best, specially partying tourists enjoying the Caribbean-like ambience and splendor of its beach front areas during early evenings complete with a happy mix of festive lights and Latin music and not to mention the white sand dance floors.

Boracay, a small island off northwestern Panay in Western Visayas is known worldwide as a tourist paradise in the Pacific. It attracts hordes of tourists, both local and foreign, all year round.

When the subject of Boracay comes up, a number of familiar images instantly comes to mind topped by the vision of people of various races parading and idly walking on its white sand beaches trying to savor their birthright share of leisure and pleasure under the sun.

Interestingly, the superfine powdery white sand on its beaches is in itself a source of wonder. It never gets hot and remains cool to the sole of one’s barefoot even under the scorching summer heat of the sun. To this day, I have not yet heard or come across any credible enough explanation for this phenomenon.

The Wonders of The Panoly Resort

panoly resort boracayTravelling has always been a passion. It gives me a sense of completeness whenever I go to a place for the first time. Grateful as I am, I always appreciate the smallest things life has to offer. Whether I become worried because of an important person or anxious because of an unfortunate event, a new place has always been a welcome treat for my weary soul.

In one of my quest as an amateur traveller (I say amateur because I have only 3 countries in my I-was-here list) and a hardworking maketing person, I stumbled upon a jewel in the northern part of Boracay.

This place may be far from the main beach, the place-to-be as what locals say, but I was smitten by the unique serenity and quiet refuge this jewel has offered during my stay.

I am talking about Club Panoly, the place which redefined my vacation week. It has rejuvenated my well-being quite pleasurably inside and out.

It was an obscure moment to linger in the place for six days because I never stay at put at one designated area for such straight period. The realization that I have been making my life a big joke because of work had profoundly sprouted here. It gave me the peace of mind, I never knew I needed. (more…)

Travel Postcard: 48 hours in Boracay

BORACAY, Philippines (Reuters Life!) – Boracay is not the secluded, quiet island it used to be, but its picture-perfect White Beach still can’t be beat for a weekend getaway.

With over 150 resorts, restaurants and bars cheek-by-jowl on the sands, tourists are spoilt for choice.

Here are some recommendations by Reuters correspondents with local knowledge on how to make the most of a weekend on Boracay:

Saturday

8 a.m. – Get as early a flight as you can out of Manila to Caticlan, a small town on the island of Panay, about 300 km (186 miles) to the south. Only small planes operated by Air Philippines, Asian Spirit and SEA Air land there, but it’s only a short 40-minute flight.

If you are checking into one of the upmarket resorts, transfers will be arranged. Otherwise stroll down to the pier about 500 yards (meters) away and get into one of the many pump-boats that will take you to Boracay in a short 15-minutes. (more…)

Microtel Boracay’s Room with a View

Our second day in Boracay was a bit rainy. I was quite disappointed because I wanted to take photos of the beach without too much crowd and of course without the humid temperature.

After our breakfast, we were supposed to go Island Hopping but it was postponed and moved on the afternoon schedule due to heavy rains. While its raining everyone is in the lobby having a coffee overload, some are downloading photos, sharing blogging tips, sharing gossips (haha) and some are surfing the net. We waited till 10:00am then went straight to Tesebel’s Ihaw-Ihaw to have our early lunch. (more…)
