Provincial officials and members of various multi-sectoral groups of the province are now discussing plans at the capitol seeking regular plane flights from Manila to Ilocos Sur and vice versa.

The meeting initiated by Governor Luis Chavit Singson aims to request existing airline companies to open regular flights to Vigan and vice versa in support of trade and tourism.

The plane from Manila will land at the Vigan Airport and take off from Vigan to Manila, loading passengers returning to the national capital after spending vacation in Ilocos Sur and other parts of the north.

Stressing the need for regular flights to Vigan, Governor Singson said tourists need a better, faster and more convenient means of transport in order to reach Vigan and other exciting destinations in the north.

He said businessmen wanting to expand to Vigan prefer to travel by air than on land, thus the need for regular flights from Manila to Vigan and vice versa using the Vigan airport.

There would be more tourists coming to see Ilocos Sur’s Kannawidan Ylocos Festival, Longaniza and Binatbatan Festivals, Viva Vigan Festival of the Arts, World Heritage Sites celebration, Candon’s Tobacco Festival if they can get to Vigan faster, the governor added.

All concerns of the various various sectors of the province will be collated and brought to the attention of existing airlines for their appreciation and immediate action.

Want to help the victims of typhoon Ondoy (Ketsana)? Well, you can while exploring the Philippines’ beautiful islands. Cultureight Travel is offering 30% of its published rates to the Philippine Red Cross for the benefit of those ravaged by the recent typhoon Ondoy which poured out a month’s worth of rain in six hours.

Choose a tour package that Cultureight Travel offers – day walks to Intramuros and Luneta, Greenhills and Malate; 5-day mini-tours to Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon, Davao, Camiguin, Sarangani Province, South Cotabato, General Santos City; or the 10-day expeditions to choice destinations in Visayas and Mindanao. Select date that suits your schedule then pay for reservation. Upon payment, Cultureight Travel will allot the 30% you paid for Red Cross.

“Hope we can have more Filipinos helping out other Filipinos. Our immediate volunteer works when typhoon Ondoy hit can further be supported by Red Cross’ programs since it’s houses and communities literally were wiped out,” Cultureight’s President Charisse Aquino said.
