280 European travel agents arriving in Boracay Island

Around 280 German and European travel agents are scheduled to visit the famous Boracay island last week of March.

Department of Tourism (DOT) Regional Director Edwin Trompeta said the travel agents Boracay visit is part of the DOT strengthening of the industry marketing.

Trompeta is also scheduled to leave for Berlin, Germany together with the five other hotel and resort managers from Western Visayas to join the Internationale Tourismus-Borse (ITB-Berlin) exhibition from March 11-15.

He said the visit of the 280 agents is now being arranged by the Myer’s Group, which is one of the biggest major tour operators in Europe.

Myer’s is closely working together with the Department of Tourismm in inviting these travel agents to Boracay island in Aklan province.

Trompeta said that the DOT is aggressively marketing the tourism industry of Boracay, because of its sun, sand, sea and greenery which were nature’s blessings and cannot be found anymore in Germany and Europe.

“We are still optimistic to have German and European tourists because tourism industry here is still cheap,” Trompeta said.

He explained that because of the cheaper cost of hotels and other tourist facilities in Boracay, the DOT is still confident that it could invite German and European tourists to take vacation in the island and in other parts of the country.
