Baguio City on Monday launched preparations for the Baguio Flower Festival 2009 — the biggest tourism event in this mountain resort, 250 kilometers north of Manila, which has been drawing millions of visitors for the last 13 years.
City mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. led the ceremonies in conjunction with the observance of the scouting week pledge which says “in February next year, visitors of our city will once again notice great improvements of our yearly summer spectacle.”
Baguio congressman, Mauricio Domogan, on the other hand, said that the grand parade which will usher the month-long festivities will “reflect our unity in diversity even as we belong to different tribes and nationalities. We will once more manifest our cooperation and unified stand in assuring success of our festival.”
The 14th edition of the festival known as “Panagbenga” has for its theme: “Our festival…Yours, Too”.
The Baguio Flower Festival Foundation Inc., will lead in the festival launching with grand fireworks display at the Melvin Jones Grandstand at Burnham Park, followed by a free concert.

I was in Baguio during the 2008 Panagbenga festival unfortunately I did not see any of the floats because we woke up very late. Hopefully next year I will get to see the parade.

Flowers festival in baguio was really amazing,that’s why every year i been there and its so fun,so don’t missed it.
people love flowers and i am one of them.

i am so excited because we traveled only 2-3 hours from ilocos to baguio city.
hope Panagbenga Festival 2009 was more happy and more flowers that floats and have a beautiful designs.

With the theme, “Our Festival…Yours Too!” the 14th version of Panagbenga shall have its grand opening on February 1, the Market Encounter from Feb. 1 to March 8, the Fluvial Parade on Valentines day, “Let a Thousand Flowers Bloom,” on Feb. 22, Abanao Nights from Feb. 26-28 and the most awaited Grand Street Parade along Session road on Feb. 28. The float parade will be on March 1, at the same venue.
