THE colorful Dalit Festival and search for Miss Tourism will highlight Tangub City’s fiesta celebration on September 29.
The decision was reached after City Mayor Jennifer Wee-Tan met with department heads and city officials on Tuesday, July 22, at the City Session Hall to line up activities for the month-long celebration and create committees to handle the preparations.
set activities include the Science Centrum on August 7-September 10 at the Northwestern Mindanao State College (NMSC) in Barangay Labuyo; Alay Lakad, to feature for the first time the planting of the Golden Shower-the city flower–to help address the threat of global warming; Cultural Night; Talent Night; culmination of the Civil Service Week; Battle of the Bands; Family Week celebration; City Athletic Meet; Sangguniang Kabataan Congress; motocross; basketball tournament, inter-collegiate games between NMSC and Gov. Alfonso D. Tan College; amateur boxing, photo contest (during the Dalit Festival), and Elvis Presley Sing and Look-Alike Contest.
Joining the merriment is the city’s lone radio station DXMP-Radyo ng Bayan 954, which will also celebrate its first year anniversary this September.
During the meeting, lawyer Philip Tan, chairman of both the City Tourism Council and Regional Tourism Council 10, encouraged everyone to also attend church activities aside from involving themselves in the different fiesta activities being offered to St. Michael, the city patron.
