Kadayawan executive commitee evaluates major activities

The executive committee of the Kadayawan Festival is thinking of events that need to be pursued or not but the usual major activities will definitely be held among others like Indak-Indak and Floral Parade.

Giovanni Aportadera, officer-in-charge of the Davao City Tourism Operations Office said they are evaluating the other events considering the cost of food and oil brought about by global issues.

He said the executive committee is looking at shifting the entire budget to what is important.

“Although we have the money we need to also look at the current situation where people globally are tightening their belts,” he said.

Although he said that they still have sponsors to help them in the conduct of Kadayawan, they (sponsors) already told them that they could only provide half of what they gave last year.

The Kadayawan will still have the same festive atmosphere, he said, but they need to avoid too much commercialism.

He said they are grateful to the enthusiasm of the private sector in supporting this event.

“We need to support it because the enthusiasm is there but the time is not in our favor,” he said.

He said they will take it as a good challenge but vowed to deliver the same intensity during the festival.
