Cuyo Island : Highly promoted on Judy Ann Santos latest movie “Ploning”

Panoramanila Pictures Co. and Judy Ann Santos’ film “Ploning,” which was entirely shot in the picturesque Cuyo islands in Palawan, got a high recommendation, and a General Patronage (GP) classification from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB). “Ploning,” which also highlights the beauty of the Filipino culture and the Filipina, can be enjoyed by moviegoers of all ages starting April 30, 2008 in Philippine theaters.

Judy Ann Santos portrays a 30 year-old Cuyonon maiden, Ploning, who patiently waits and holds on to the promise of her beloved’s return. “Ploning,” loosely based on the Cuyonon folk song with the same title, is a story of loving and waiting, of healing and forgiving.

Armed with a stellar cast composed of Gina Pareño, Mylene Dizon, Meryll Soriano, Ces Quesada, Tony Mabesa, Crispin Pineda, Eugene Domingo, Tessie Tomas, Ketchup Eusebio, Ronnie Lazaro, Joel Torre, Beth Tamayo, Jojit Lorenzo, Spanky Manikan, and local actors Cedric Amit, Lucas Agustin, Ogoy Agustin, Boodge Fernandez, and directed by production designer turned screenwriter and director, Dante Nico Garcia, “Ploning” is arguably a fruition of real-life friends’ passion for the craft and hard work, who literally and figuratively cross oceans, and climb mountains to finish the film in time for its lead actress’ 30th birthday on May 11, 2008.

“I’m about to turn 30 but I feel complete already. It has been an amazing journey working on “Ploning.” Wearing the hat of a first-time producer has its share of disappointments and triumphs.
