World-Class Oceanarium in the Philippines Launched
Manila Ocean Park launched its Oceanarium in a ceremony attended by Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and key government officials last February 29, 2008. This facility is envisioned to showcase the rich and diverse marine life of the Philippines which has been recently declared as the center of the center of marine shore fish bio-diversity in the world.
The Oceanarium features 20,000 exotic and colorful fishes, majority of which come from the waters of the Philippines. Manila Ocean Park has installed a state-of-the-art life support systems and facilities to maintain the good health of animals and ensure their safety.
The park is set to be one of the country’s world-class tourist attractions that can rival other similarly-themed parks in Asia. It is expected to draw millions of visitors on its first year, offering a beyond the usual tourist experience as well as unique shopping opportunities. Aside from the aquatic display, park visitors can also enjoy the glass-bottomed boat ride, the 20-foot acrylic underwater tunnel, and the activity center where many interactive devices impart information about the oceans surrounding the Philippines and the creatures that live in them.
On top of being a tourist destination, Manila Ocean Park is established not only to provide economic benefits to the community folks but also to serve as a vehicle towards environmental conservation and protection. It primarily seeks to awaken public awareness on the current status of Philippine seas and encourage various sectors to adopt a concerted action to invigorate the bodies of water surrounding our country. In line with this mandate, the park has held appreciation night in honor of its partners and non-government environmental organizations.
The Oceanarium is only the first phase of the first-of-its-kind marine theme park. When completed, the Manila Ocean Park will feature a fusion concept, bringing together an Oceanarium, a shopping mall and a boutique hotel in one compound. This establishment will be the first of its kind in the Asia Pacific region. China Oceanis Philippines, the operator of Manila Ocean Park, is a subsidiary of China Oceanis, which owns and operates many other marine-themed parks in Asia..

Oceanarium huh? I have never heard of that word until now. I do love aquariums though, they are one of my favorite things to visit. It is very calming and soothing to me. I think it has to do with the subtle blue lighting and the quietness of it. I love em, and would love to visit this one someday.
been there yesterday and it’s a nice place though unfinished yet but spending three hours inside the oceanarium was not enough for me although it won’t take you that much time to get around but as for me, i really spent some time looking at how they move and enjoy the environment.
