Philippine Department of Tourism Concludes Familiarization Tour for Danish Travel Agents

The Department of Tourism, partner travel agent Filtravel and Singapore Airlines has recently concluded a familiarization tour of the country for Denmark’s top travel agencies.

The tour is part of the organizing group’s efforts to promote Philippines as an ideal holiday destination in the Scandinavian markets.

The participants represented five of the leading Danish tour operators, namely InterTravel, MyTravel Tango, Profil Rejser, Team Benns, and TopTours.

The week-long activity covered trips to Boracay in Aklan and El Nido, Palawan.

The delegation was booked at Grand Boracay, and visited several other resorts in the tropical island. Among the Boracay resorts included in the ocular inspection were AltaVista, Asya, Discovery Shores, Friday’s, Mandala Spa Resort, Nami, and Red Coconut.

The Palawan leg of the itinerary covered visits to the El Nido resorts in Lagen and Miniloc. Island hopping, a lagoon tour and cultural performances were also arranged.

The trip was capped by a conference between the Danish delegation and representatives from 30 different Philippine resorts.

The DOT representative Glen Agustin presented a survey about the Scandinavian tourism industry. Meanwhile, Jim Larsen from Filtravel presented the agency’s strategy and plans for capturing a higher percentage of the tourists from the Scandinavian regions and encouraged the participating hotels and resorts to join the effort to do so.
