The Department of Tourism (DOT) was recently presented with the Anvil Award of Merit for its The Philippines: Explore, Experience, Return (PEER) marketing campaign.
An initiative of DOT’s Team North America, PEER is an Internet-based project that promotes the Philippines to American and Canadian tourists. The PEER portal, www.experiencephilippines.ph is considered one of the most successful tourism websites in terms of visits and market reach. It holds a database of more than 85,000 names and email addresses of second and third generation Filipinos in North America. The portal was developed by DOT partner agency Euro RSCG 4D.
The Anvil Awards board of judges recognized PEER for its outstanding use of electronic and interactive media as a public relations tool.
Two successful on-line raffles under PEER were the Great Philippine Free Flight Giveaway, which gave out 250 free round-trip plane tickets, and the Out-of-the-Box Balikbayan, which offered a chance to win, a condominium unit at The St. Francis Place in Ortigas Center.
Organized by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines, the yearly Anvil Awards seeks out the most effective and innovative public relations and marketing campaigns initiated by Filipino entities.
