Once again the Department of Tourism (DOT) will be holding its 3rd Tourism Jobs Fair on February 13-14, 2008 at SM City Cebu.
According to DOT-8 Regional Director Karina Rosa S. Tiopes, the Jobs Fair is a “ONE –STOP” venue for employers and suppliers of tourism jobs; and fresh graduates and other applicants who seek a career in travel and tourism, where both can meet, assess each others needs, and create an employment match.
It was learned that the qualifications for job applicants who wish to register should be fresh graduates of any course who want to build a career in travel and tourism; those employed and are ready for a career change; and those underemployed or unemployed who are looking for job opportunities in tourism.
To name a few, some of the tourism-oriented establishments and other entities that are in search of new or fresh talents for staffing needs are: airlines and shipping/cruise companies; hotels and resorts; car rental companies; restaurants; travel agencies and tour operators; retail and entertainment establishments; convention and exhibition Centers and organizers; tourist transportation companies; national government agencies; local government units; overseas employment agencies; banking sector; and many others.
For interested employers, one may log on to www.tourismjobs.ph to register on line. All information provided by employers will be treated with strict confidentiality. Only the list of job vacancies and corresponding qualification standards will be accessible to the applicants on-line. According to DOT, the complete employer information will only be made available to registered applicants during the Jobs Fair.
On the part of the job applicants, they may call the DOT office for a more detailed instruction on how to register, or they may log on to www.tourismjobs.ph, e-mail tjf2008@tourismjobs.ph.
On the other hand, there will also be a Tourism Jobs Fair in Manila on May 21-22, 2008 at the SMX Convention Center.
