Tourist arrivals in the country increased in September this year as compared to the same period last year, latest figures from the Department of Tourism show.
Figures from the department’s Tourism Research and Statistics Division show that there were a total of 212, 415 tourists that arrived in September unlike in the same month last year with only 192,661.
The data also show that Korea has the biggest number of arrivals with 43,061 on the said month, followed by the United States with 33,732, Japan with 33,507 and China with 13,416 visitors.
Of the total number of visitors, 9,401 were overseas Filipino workers.
DoT TRD head Milagros Say attributed the increase to the department’s relentless campaign to sell the country’s famous tourism spots.
The department is targeting a million increase of tourist arrivals for the year.
