New Park in Davao City to open before Christmas

new park in davao cityTHE newly-completed park at the former Palaruang Lungsod ng Dabaw or more commonly known as the PTA field is set to open to the public tentatively before December 6 this year.

This was disclosed recently by city administrator Wendel Avisado in a short talk during the 579th Breakfast Fellowship of the Grand Men Seng Hotel in Davao City.

Avisado said the modern public promenade will also have its final name by then as the five semi-finalists in the “Name the Park” contest have been submitted to Mayor Rodrigo Duterte for the final selection.

Built at a cost of P71-M, the park has underground communication facilities and a total of eight surveillance cameras which can rotate at 360 degrees.

He said other facilities for relaxations include inter-active fountains, cascading waterfalls and a children’s playground.

All those entering the park will not be charging entrance fees but the city administrator added that the mayor will not allow selling of foodstuffs inside the park.

However, Avisado said picnics are allowed in designated areas considering that people will be allowed to bring their own foods.

The park described by Avisado as one-of-a-kind in the country is located in the heart of the city.
