Baguio remains a cool destination “anytime, all the time”

baguio best tourist destinationThe mountain resort city of Baguio, still the country’s Summer Capital will bring its cool spirit, pine scents, foggy bliss, panoramic views, unique culture, among others, all rolled into one package, in the largest travel and tourism expo in the country, the 18th Philippine Travel Mart (PTM) on September 7-9, 2007 at the SM Megatrade Hall.

As PTM offers a thousand and one ways to enjoy the country’s beautiful scenes, attractions, and facilities, the Baguio City Tourism Council led by the Baguio Conventions and Visitors Bureau (BCVB), will give visitors an unforgettable feel of ” a virtual Baguio,” a dazzling multi-sensory and multi-media experience exploring all their Baguio travel options in one place.

The BCVB is composed of private citizens with a passion and love for their city, it is a private sector led, non-stock, membership-based organization, whose task is to promote tourism attractions, activities, and events of Metro Baguio. It is also the marketing and promotions arm of the Baguio Tourism Council (BTC) and is under the umbrella group of the North Philippine Visitors Bureau. The BCVB is working in tandem with the Manila Tollways Corporation which has given birth to the high profile marketing thrust called Rediscover the North through the NLEX.

The meticulously landscaped 54-square meter Baguio Pavilion will be a foretaste of Baguio’s delectable arrays of taste, feel, color, and yes, even smell, with its constantly a-brew Cordillera coffee.

The Pavilion includes a Kennon Road mock-up complete with a lion’s head paper mache bust. One AVP set-up along the Kennon Road will showcase the culture, arts and places on interest and destinations of Baguio. After traversing the zigzag road, one will “arrive” in Session Road, the main pavilion stage, where a continuous AVP Loop will show actual footage of the city’s main thoroughfare.

The rest of the pavilion will be a picnic ground mock-up to be used for promotional and marketing activities, all directed to promoting Baguio as a year-round travel destination with its “Baguio City… A Cool destination, any time, all the time” theme.

Baguio City will also feature the flower-dressed golf cart Panagbenga float, Philippine Military Academy cadets silent drill, Tossed Salad festival, the Strawberry Shake presentation by the Baguio Country Club, Baguio Alabanza Longganiza, Narda’s arts and crafts popular weaving of Ikat products, Brides-on Parade shows…all this while you sip fresh home-grown coffee by Soul Café and lounge around the furniture of PNKY Collection amidst real pine trees by Aromin’s Flowers.

This 3-day one stop shop display of tourism and travel-trade exhibition showcasing quality products, tourist destinations and properties is the best venue to attract thousands of corporate buyers and consumers who are in search of new, upcoming and popular destinations.

Spearheaded by the Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA), the biggest organization of tour operators, the PTM is supported by the Department of Tourism in coordination with different tourism councils nationwide.
