The Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT) has recently announced the latest North American winners of its ongoing “Out of the Box” travel promotion. Marissa Llaneta of New York, as well as Adrian Solonga of Manitoba, Canada, were each awarded with two-night stays in a deluxe room at the Makati Shangri-La in Manila. Another New York resident, Jose Almoradie, has won a two-night stay in a deluxe room at the Traders Hotel, also in Manila.

In addition, a Shangri-La Shopping Mall Shopping Spree and US$40 money card were respectively awarded to two California residents, John Balmes and Hilarion Lacson.

The ongoing promotion was launched by the PDOT in 2006 as part of “The Philippines: Explore, Experience, Return” campaign targeting North American vacationers.

U.S. and Canadian passport holders and permanent residents 18 years of age or older, who travel (or have traveled) to the Philippines anytime between Oct. 1, 2006 and Dec. 31, 2007, will have a chance to win prizes in monthly, semi-annual and grand prize drawings. To participate in the promotion, travelers simply log-on to www.experiencephilippines.ph and provide their flight details in the “Out of the Box” registration section of the site.

Registration can be completed only after arrival in the Philippines. The form can be filled out even after the participant has returned home to the U.S. or Canada.

Exciting prizes include first-class airline tickets, tour packages, furniture and appliance showcases, eye treatments, shopping sprees, and for the grand prize drawing — a condominium unit at St. Francis Towers in Ortigas, Metro Manila, worth more than US$100,000.

Winners must be able to present any of the following documents as proof of arrival in the Philippines including:

passport with stamp of arrival in the Philippines
passenger copy of airline ticket used
airline boarding pass
