More than a hundred international travel trader buyers will converge at the 6th Philippine Travel Exchange on September 8 to 9 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, the Department of Tourism said in a press release.
PHITEX 2006, a premier travel trade event, is spearheaded by the DOT and the Philippine Convention and Visitors Corporation in cooperation with private organizers.
The business-to-business sessions, the event’s main highlight, will provide Philippine travel suppliers an exclusive opportunity to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business with foreign travel trade buyers, the press release said.
This year, the buyers will come from Europe, Australia, North America, Korea and the Asia-Pacific. Russia and Singapore will have the most numbers of delegates.
Sixty-nine companies and 109 delegates are registered as Philippine sellers.
Tourism Secretary Joseph “Ace” Durano said PHITEX 2006 is seen to greatly benefit the country’s tourism industry through the promotion of Philippine destinations that will be showcased during the event.
Durano said that aside from its business component, it is also an excellent opportunity for foreign buyers and media to experience first hand the country’s top destinations, the press release added.*
