AN INVITATION : BEYOND THE FLOODS Art exhibit for Malabon, on Malabon by Malabon Artists

What goes to your mind when Malabon is mentioned ?

Floods, filth, squalor and crime….. This is reality we, Malabon residents have to deal with including the monicker flood capital of “Metro Manila”.

Rare are the situations that people think of great food such as pancit Malabon, fresh sea foods and “sapin-sapin” when Malabon comes to mind. Gone are the days that former residents go back to their grand old ancestral houses for family reunions or plain weekend sorties.

From famous to infamous, that is Malabon now. It is a very sorry situation.

It is in this light that our group Mga Parokyano ng Malabon is organizing initially an art exhibit to revive cultural interest on Malabon.

In this regard, we would like to invite you to an art exhibit on August 31, 2006 with merienda cena at 4pm at Pescadores Restaurant, Letre Road, Malabon City . The event is entitled “Noong unang panahon sa Malabon….. “ featuring renowned artists from Malabon led by painter Angel Cacnio and sculptor Michael Cacnio together with other artists .

Your presence will lend credence of importance to this activity. It is also a rare opportunity for you to acquire great works of art “gawang Malabon ng taga-Malabon at presyong Malabon” !

This event is one of the activities that our group is organizing to raise funds for other projects. There are also projects that are not fund raising but just for ‘awareness’ like the tour of old houses and visits to the old ‘visita’ market to buy popular delicacies such as patis, sapin-sapin , tinapa and rellenong bangus.
